My dad came through his surgery today with flying colors. Many thanks to those of you who took the time to pray for him and for me today. If all goes well overnight, he will be coming home tomorrow. This is always tricky as he lives by himself, but it usually works out okay. The pathology report on the tumors (as it turns out, there were three small tumors) should be available when he goes in for follow-up appointment on Wednesday.
File this under "Just Too Weird:" The surgeon presented me with a glossy photograph of one of the tumors, taken in situ. I tried to give it back, but he wouldn't take it.

Thanks for the update Paula.
Will continue thinking/praying for you both...

I am so glad he has pulled thru, Paula. Prayers for a full recovery. As far as the "weird" offer, "EEEEUUUEW'! But I know from DD and her hubby, people in the medical field just get off on "body stuff". They have, for them, a healthy fascination with this stuff.
Yea for your Dad.
As for weird "body stuff": I have the neighbor dog's testicles in a jar and a colleague's video of his colonscopy. Good stuff!!!!
So, Dawn, are you saying that if I want to unload this photo of my dad's tumor, you have first dibs?
What good news, Paula!!
Soft hug,

I'm glad that your father came through surgery. It's so worrying and yes, exhausting. Please keep us posted on his progress.
Yup. Send it on up. I have quite the collection of surgery pictures and polyps/tumors (in formaldehyde-free fluid) in my classroom. Kids loooooove it.
Ewwww, gross! (the tumor photo)
