What Was I Thinking...

...When I chose Butterick 4991 as part of my mini-wardrobe? There's no earthly way I could construct this particular garment and three additional garments in the space of one month. Talk about a moment of irrational, cockeyed optimism!

I mentioned in an earlier post that the garment has 14 darts. True, but the garment is also fully lined, meaning there are really - please sit down and place any drinks you may be holding on the table - 28 darts! Eegads! It will take me an entire month just to mark the darts to my satisfaction!

Don't get me wrong, I still intend to make this vest, but it will be an add-on piece to the mini-wardrobe I'll be making for the PatternReview contest. Now off to peruse the pattern company websites for a more suitable choice...perhaps something from a knit with no darts!

Paula,
that was prolly a good decision, one can only sew so much or so little.
Have you already found something? Hope you find some gems really soon:-)

I've been pretty busy, sewed three skirts and one blouse out of strech lace ( which was just awful to sew) for DD, I'll place some photos and maybe a review on my blog as soon as there's time for it.

I do this all the time. Some times reality has to grab us by the neck and shake us back. I get this idea that I can just "whip it up real quick" and in reality it is an all day project. Sounds like you made a good decision. That is a lot of darts! I am sure that you can come up with another awesome garment that won't take quite as much time. Can't wait to see your finished wardrobe.

Glad to hear you are a normal person after all. 28 darts! Two are enough for me.

Holy Dart Batman!!! You know, I recently had a "What was I thinking" project. It happens to everybody. Don't lose sleep - move on! Here's a link to my WWIT PR review. http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/readreview.pl?readreview=1&reviewnum=27324
