Skullz

I bought this sweatshirt fleece last January and it's been aging in my stash ever since. Yes, I got strange looks from both my husband and my youngest daughter when I brought it home. I'm not sure why I fell in love with it. It may be that I'm entering my second childhood prematurely.

My original intention was to make a pair of sweat pants for bumming around the house. Working from home as I do, bumming around the house is a daily activity so the pants would definitely get a lot of use...but they wouldn't be a garment I would ever wear in public.

Which brings me to my dilemma. I love this fabric so much, I started wondering if maybe I shouldn't make a hoody, which might be a little more versatile. That idea was squelched when I measured the fabric. I have a scant yard and a quarter, and it hasn't yet been laundered.

That's probably not enough for a full on hoody, so now I'm thinking about a hooded vest. I wear activewear-style vests frequently, so I think it's a good option. I'm looking for opinions. Am I crazy to consider wearing this fabric outside the house? Vest? Sweatpants? Something for my granddaughter?

What do you think?

If you totally love it, then go with it. Be forewarned, your husband and children may not want to be seen with you when you wear it.

It sounds like you're not so sure of it now, though. If that is the case, then I would make something for around the house only. Perhaps something to lounge in. You could make a top out of the skullz fabric and make drawstring yoga pants in a solid knit fabric to go with them.

DO NOT, and i mean DO NOT, make a hooded vest to wear in public with this fabric!!!! If you want to wear this out of the house, make the full on hoody...go to the fabric store & by some black fleece & do like black sleeves & hood with the skulls for the body, or vice versa, & line the hood with the skulls. PLEASE promise me you won't make the vest!!!!

Well when I said in public I mean the grocery store, not the mall, lol. I'll probably just make sweat pants but that means I'll have to take apart my favorite sweat pants to use as a pattern. :o(

YOU like the fabric so make something for YOU. PJ pants so you won't be tempted do out in them.
Thinking a hood wouldn't drape well in fleece but the point is moot.
